About The Event
Chelsea's Sounds & Sights began in 2004 and features music, entertainment and attractions every Thursday evening throughout the summer in historic downtown Chelsea, Michigan. The series is the combined effort of the Sounds & Sights Committee, downtown merchants, Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Chelsea Center for the Arts, with the support of Sounds & Sights sponsors.
Auditions are held in the spring of each year, and are open to musicians, singer/song-writers, jugglers, magicians, performers, dance troupes, artists, and other street arts performers. Performers are judged before a panel of local artists, committee members and merchants. Performers are paid, a priority for organizers who all feel that artists should always be compensated for their work.
Stage locations will be placed outdoors throughout the downtown area
from the Clocktower to the library. Covered stage areas are located at key
spots on both Main street and Middle Street.
Downtown retail businesses accommodate the additional foot traffic and stay open late through the extent of the summer series.
