2008 Parade Rules and Regulations
Please read the following instructions before completing and returning your parade application.
ALL entries must have lights on them, including walking groups.
- There will be no more than 60 entries. Entries will be evaluated for acceptance based on theme use, entertainment value and use of lights (clear and colored).
- Animal entries will be accepted into the parade as long as all animals are leashed. If you have a vehicle accompanying your animals, you MUST have lights on it, as well as the animals.
- No unit will be admitted into the parade that has not been pre-approved. Entries will not be accepted or considered after Nov.21, 2008.
- The Hometown Holiday Committee reserves the right to reject any entry that is not in good taste, inappropriate, or is not in the best interest of the parade.
- Entries depicting a political organization, candidate, or controversial issue will not be considered.
- Maximum height for entries is 12.6 feet from the ground. Maximum width is 8.6 feet.
- All units are required to maintain forward motion at all times. No maneuvers are allowed that slows the forward movement of the parade.
- All entries should be properly identified with signs or banners with the organizations name so the spectators know who you are. A holiday message is suggested. This is not a commercial parade-- please no sales messages.
- Drivers of motorized vehicles must be 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license. The Chamber must receive a copy of the driver’s license one week prior to the parade day.
- Sirens and Horns --- please limit the use of them due to units that may have music and in keeping with the holiday ambience.
- Only one powered vehicle will be permitted for each entry.
- Walkers must be able to keep up with the pace and length of the parade.
- Equestrian and animal units must provide their own accompanying clean-up personnel and equipment. Please make sure the horses have the proper shoes. If you have a vehicle, carriage, etc., it MUST have lights on it to go through the parade.
- All parade participants are required to conduct themselves in such a manner as not to infringe on the rights of those living in and along the staging areas and parade route. NO solicitation is allowed during the event.
- Applications must be received at the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce office on or before Friday, Nov. 21, 2008
- No Santa or Mrs. Claus please. We have invited the “real” Santa.

Light Parade Driver / Leader Rules
- Watch your speed. Be sure the unit behind you is keeping up with you at all times.
- If you have a walking unit behind you, it is very important that your
float speed be slow enough for the walkers to keep up with you.
WE DO NOT WANT ANYONE RUNNING TO STAY UP WITH THE UNIT IN FRONT OF THEM! - Amtrak has a train scheduled to go through the City at approximately
6:30 PM. You MUST be aware of your position as you near the tracks.
- DO NOT enter the tracks until the unit in front of you has completely cleared the tracks AND has gone an additional distance equal to the length of your unit.
- Walking units - PLEASE follow the same rule!
